Too Soon MLB Rankings

We're a week into the MLB season...How's your team performing? The Detroit Tigers are the only unbeaten and  the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox have started off hot. The Angels have been quite the surprise starting off 4-2 with a depleted lineup. Not sure how long they can sustain that type if record but it's good to see them competing. The Marlins and Mets have yet to win a game and we've already seen a no hitter by Houston Astros Ronel Blanco. What a week it's been. Checkout the OSDB MLB power ranking through week 1...

1. Los Angeles Dodgers - Mookie Betts hot start has masked the early struggles of superstar Shohei Ohtani. Catcher Will Smith signed his big extension and it looks like money well spent. Veteran Freddie Freeman appears to have sipped from the fountain of youth in the off season. The starting rotation has been saved by the bullpen which might not be sustainable for 162 games. If the pitching can get on track the skies the limit for the Blue Crew.

2. New York Yankees - Juan Soto fits in very nicely to the stable of stars in the Bronx. The hot start for Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Cabrera has masked the slow start for Aaron Judge. If the Yankees pitching rotation can keep runs off the board it;s going to be hard to silence their bats.

3. Pittsburgh Pirates - It's hard to get too excited about the Buccos hot start but we have to give credit where credit is due. Jared Jones is looking like a certified star on the mound and Bryan Reynolds and Ke'Bryan Hayes bats have been on fire. Let's see if they can keep this pace up.

4. Milwaukee Brewers - I know I know...they swept the Mets but you can't hold that against the Brew Crew. The bullpen is going to save them and keep them in a lot of games but their bats are over performing.

5. Detroit Tigers - An easy schedule to start could increase the win tally. A lot of people aren't high on the Tigers but their bats have some pop and closer Jason Foley is going to save them a lot of games this season.

6 Boston Red Sox - The starting rotation has been lights out. Nick Pivetta and Tanner Houck opened the season pitching out of their minds and left fielder Jarren Duran already has 11 hits to start the season. If the bats can match the pitching, it could be fun to watch the Sox compete in a loaded AL East.

7. Baltimore Orioles - People are very high on the Orioles. They aren't winning games because of their bats...As a team they're batting .236 so it's safe to say their pitching is keeping them in games. Corbin Burnes has 14 K's in 2 games with a 2.31 ERA.

8. Texas Rangers - The Rangers would have been higher but 3rd baseman Josh Jung suffered a wrist injury and hit the Injured list. He started scorched earth hitting .412 before the injury. Adolis Garcia already has 3 homeruns and the bats have been pretty decent. Nathan Eovoldi has been stellar on the mound leading a very good rotation that's started off hot.

9. Atlanta Braves - Nothing too exciting going on in Atlanta. Max Fried got rocked in his first appearance but the Braves went on to win that game. Shortstop Orlando Arcia and second baseman Ozzie Albies bats have been hot and Ronald Acuna Jr has been Ronald Auna Jr. Starting Pitchers haven't been affective and they've relied on the bullpen. Only 1 starting pitcher has a win.

10. Cleveland Guardians - Shane Bieber is in mid season form getting 2 wins in his first 2 starts with a total of 20 strikeouts. Pitching is definitely the strongest asset for this Guardians team. Hitting has been suspect at best with left fielder Steven Kwan and second baseman Andres Gimenes leading the way. Not a lot of power in the lineup so hopefully small ball can keep them in games.
