BIOGRAPHY
Dierrias J. Humphries Jr. was born on December 28th, 1993, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is an offensive tackle in the National Football League.
In his early years, Humphries attended Mallard Creek High School where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track. He was an All-American offensive lineman. Since his freshman season, Humphries did not allow a sack over the final three years of his prep career. Humphries was regarded as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com and was ranked as the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect of his class. At the end of his high school career, he committed to the University of Florida to play college football.
Humphries enrolled in January 2012, where as a freshman he appeared in all 12 games with three starts and was named to the SEC Coaches All-Freshman team and was a Sporting News Freshman All-American. He graded out at 80 percent or better six times, including 100 percent against Texas A&M and Tennessee. As a sophomore, he played in seven games starting the first six at LT. In the six games he started, the Gators averaged 178.5 rushing yards per game, compared to 113.0 rushing yards per game in the six games he did not start. The team averaged more than 100 fewer net yards per game in the games he did not start. As a junior, he started all 10 games in which he appeared at LT in 2014. The Gators rushed for 100+ yards in all 10 games he played, including four games with 200+ yards and a season-best 418 yards on the ground against Georgia and Florida also posted 20 rushing TDs in his 10 games. He helped the Gators offense accumulate 655 net yards of offense and seven TDs in a 65-0 victory over Eastern Michigan in the season opener and he was part of an offensive line that allowed one sack or fewer in six of 10 games he started, including four games with no sacks. Following his junior season, Humphries declared to the 2015 NFL Draft.
Humphries was selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals and on June 1, 2015, the Cardinals signed Humphries to a four-year contract. In 2016, Humphries was named the starting right tackle to begin the regular season. He started the first 13 games of the season where the first 10 were at RT, and the next three were at LT. He made his professional debut and his first career start in the season opener against the New England Patriots on September 11, helping the team gain 92 rushing yards and a TD on 19 attempts. In the 2017 season, Humphries entered the season starting as a LT. He started 5 games and making his fourth start of his career against the Detroit Lions on September 10 and on November 5, he started for an offensive line that did not allow a sack and helped Peterson rush for 159 yards on a franchise record 37 carries against the San Francisco 49ers.
On April 24, 2018, the Cardinals picked up the fifth-year option on Humphries' contract. He started the first nine games at left tackle before suffering a knee injury in Week 10. He missed the next three games before being placed on injured reserve on December 5, 2018.
On February 17, 2020, Humphries signed a three-year, $45 million contract extension with the Cardinals through the 2022 season.
