Ryan Poehling was born January 3, 1999 in Lakeville, Minnesota. He is a center in the National Hockey League.

Poehling was drafted 25th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and on March 31, 2019, Poehling signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Canadiens. Poehling scored a hat trick during his NHL debut on April 6, 2019, becoming the first Canadiens player to achieve this feat since Alex Smart on January 14, 1943. As a restricted free agent with the Canadiens, Poehling was signed to a two-year contract extension and on July 16, 2022, Poehling was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. As a free agent from the Penguins, on July 1, 2023, Poehling was signed to a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers for the 2023–24 season.
