Michael Sgarbossa was born on July 25, 1992, in Campbellville, Ontario. He is a forward in the NHL.

Sgarbossa was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Jose Sharks to a three-year entry level contract on September 21, 2010. Sgarbossa was traded to the Colorado Avalanche during the 2011-2012 season and in the 2014–15 season at the trade deadline, Sgarbossa was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. On July 1, 2017, Sgarbossa signed a one-year, one-way $650,000 deal with the Winnipeg Jets. On May 8, 2023, Sgarbossa signed a two year, two-way contract extension with the Capitals, placing him among the highest paid players in the AHL.
