Alex Newhook was born January 28, 2001, in St. John’s, Canada. He is a left wing in the National Hockey League.

Newhook was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the first round, 16th overall, of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022. Newhook was traded to the Montreal Canadiens June 27, 2023 and on July 11, 2023, was re-signed by the Canadiens to a four-year, $11.6 million contract extension.
