BIOGRAPHY
Willie Wright was born on February 25, 1996, in Houston, Texas. He studied at the University of Tulsa and is an offensive guard for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. In his early years, Wright attended Cypress Ridge High School where he started playing football. He started his junior and senior seasons at offensive tackle. As a junior, he was an honorable mention All-District selection and received first-team Academic all-district merits while as a senior, he earned first-team all-district accolades.
After finishing high school, Wright committed to the University of Tulsa to play college football. He redshirted as a freshman in 2014 but in 2015, in his sophomore season, he played in all 13 games and had 12 starts. He saw his first collegiate playing time at right tackle in a reserve role against FAU in the season opener and saw his first career start a week later at New Mexico, and started the remaining 11 games of the season. As a junior in 2016, Wright played and started 11 games, including the first 5 games. When he was back in the starting lineup in the final six games of the season, he graded 85-percent with 5 knockdowns on 87 snaps against Memphis, graded 88-percent on 101 snaps against Fresno State, graded 86 percent on 92 plays against East Carolina, graded 93-percent with 5 knockdowns on 82 snaps against UCF and played 105 offensive snaps against Cincinnati grating a 85 percent. As a senior in 2017, Wright started all 12 games at right tackle and was named to the watch lists for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and the Wuerffel Trophy. He helped lead an offense that ranked 14th nationally in rushing with 247.2 yards on the ground and graded 84-percent or better in all 12 games, including over 90-percent in three contests.
After graduating from college, Wright declared to enter the 2019 NFL draft were he was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent.
