BIOGRAPHY
Taylor attended Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he was a multi-sport athlete for the Eagles. He was an all-state baseball player in addition to participating in track and long jump. For one season, Taylor played tennis with his quarterback as his doubles partner and the two were state runners-up that year. Playing football, Taylor had 107 receptions for 1,650 yards and 20 touchdowns in his senior year. He committed to Louisiana Tech University to play college football and played from 2013 to 2016. He recorded 327 receptions for 4,179 yards and 32 touchdowns, setting a school reception record. In his final collegiate game, he was named the MVP of the 2016 Armed Forces Bowl after recording 12 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns.
The San Francisco 49ers selected Taylor in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 43 receptions for 430 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor led all rookies and was tied-6th in the NFL with 27 receptions on 3rd down. Of his 27 3rd-down receptions, 66.7 percent (18) converted a 1st down.
Taylor has lived in three states during his life, including Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee. During his time in Tennessee, he became very fond of the city of Nashville and country music. Taylor’s father, Greg, played linebacker at Western Kentucky University from 1982-85 where he played under WKU’s alltime wins leader, Jimmy Feix, for two seasons (1984-85).
