BIOGRAPHY
Rayshawn Jenkins was born on January 25th, 1994, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is a safety in the NFL.
During high school, Jenkins was rated as No. 27 safety prospect by Rivals and No. 40 according to ESPN. He played multiple positions at Admiral Farragut Academy, including quarterback, wide receiver, running back and defensive back as the junior threw for 824 yards on 48-of-72 passing with ten touchdowns and one interception while rushing 83 times for 647 yards and seven touchdowns, and zero fumbles.
In 2012 during his freshman season, Jenkins played in 10 games at defensive back, making two starts. He finished with 27 tackles, one INT, and three pass break-ups. Jenkins made UM debut in a road win at Boston College. He recorded career-best eight tackles (seven solos) in a road loss at Virginia.
During his sophomore season in 2013, Jenkins played in all 13 games, starting 12 at safety. He was ranked fourth on the team with 44 total tackles, making 29 solo stops. Jenkins recorded second career INT in an upset win over No. 12/9 Florida. Jenkins registered the third interception of the season in a loss at Florida State.
In 2015 during his junior season, Jenkins started seven of 13 games. He was fourth on the team with 52 tackles and ranked second on the team with three interceptions. In 2016 during his senior season, Jenkins started 12 of 13 games and served as one of Miami's top defensive playmakers. He was ranked third on the team with 76 tackles (56 solos) and finished with 4.5 tackles for loss. Jenkins led the team with two interceptions and ranked second with seven pass breakups...Added 1.5 sacks. He started the season opener against Florida A&M (Sept. 3) and posted five tackles (four solos). On December 5, 2016, it was announced that Jenkins had accepted his invitation to the 2017 Senior Bowl.
On May 17, 2017, the Los Angeles Chargers signed Jenkins to a four-year contract. He made his professional regular-season debut in the Los Angeles Chargers against the Denver Broncos. On September 24, 2017, he recorded his first career tackle on Akeem Hunt after a kick return in the second quarter of a 24–10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In 2021 he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
