Poona Ford was born on November 19th, 1995 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He is a defensive tackle in the National Football League.

Ford was a standout at Hilton Head Island High School. He initially committed to the University of Louisville but changed his commitment when coach Charlie Strong left Louisville to take the head coaching job at the University of Texas.

A four-year defensive lineman who appeared in 46 career games with 30 starts at Texas, Ford was named Big 12 Conference Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2017. He was also a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2017 by both the coaches and Associated Press, named a Blanchard-Rogers Award finalist and named preseason All-Big 12 by the league's media and Athlon Sports in 2017. Ford was named second-team All-Big 12 by ESPN.com in 2016 and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 by league’s coaches that same year. Ford was a two-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2014; spring 2017) and participated in the 2014 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. He was tabbed first-team statewide All-State in 2013.

Ford made the Seahawks' 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie in 2018. Ford finished the regular season with an overall grade of 90.3 – the tenth highest grade among interior defensive tackles that season and will continue to be a big part of Seattle’s defensive front going forward.

In 2021 he signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Ford joined the Buffalo Bills in 2023.
