BIOGRAPHY
Patrick Mekari was born on August 13th, 1997, in Westlake Village, California. He is an offensive guard in the National Football League.
Prior to his college career, Mekari attended Westlake HS. He played on three varsity teams that compiled a 22-11 overall record while winning the Marmonte League East and Marmonte League crowns in his final two campaigns during his 2013 junior and 2014 senior seasons. He earned Marmonte League Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year honors as a senior for a team that finished 8-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play to win the Marmonte League while reaching the first round of the Southern Section playoffs and ranking No. 22 in the state and was also named first-team All-Pac 5, All-Southern Section, All-County, All-Marmonte League, honorable mention All-Area and his school’s lineman of the year as a senior when he helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for 4,677 total yards (425.2 ypg) including 2,269 on the ground (206.3 ypg).
During his college career, Mekari played in six games off the bench in his first campaign at Cal, seeing action against Grambling State, San Diego State, Washington State, and USC, at Stanford and against Air Force. He contributed to a Cal offense that set numerous records including single-season school marks in passing yardage (4,892), passing yards per game (376.3 ypg), passing touchdowns (44), total offense (6,879), total yards per game (529.2 ypg), total touchdowns (63), scoring offense (37.9 ppg, modern-era school record), first downs (341) and first downs passing (201). Mekari helped Cal become the only team in the nation to have six receivers with 40 or more catches and the first college football team in recorded history to have six players with 40 or more receptions and three 500-yard rushers in the same season.
During his sophomore season in 2016, Mekari played in eight games with four starts. He contributed to an offensive line that helped Cal rank fourth nationally in passing offense (358.8 ypg) and fourth-down conversion percentage (74.2%), eighth in first downs offense (335), 10th in total offense (513.2 ypg) and 22nd in scoring offense (37.1 ppg) and helped Cal establish single-season school records for pass completions (383), first downs by penalty (35), fewest fumbles lost (3) and fewest turnovers (15).
In 2017, during his junior season, Mekari earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors after playing in and starting ten games at left tackle to equal career highs for both but did not record any statistics other than participation. He launched the first seven and last three contests.
During his senior season in 2018, Mekari started the first ten games at left tackle while also seeing action at both left guard and right guard. He earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors from The Associated Press. He helped the offense improve by an average of 32.3 yards per contest from its final 2017 number, including a season-best 305 yards rushing at Oregon State that was their most since a 2016 match against Oregon and was named Cal's Offensive Player of the Week for the season opener against North Carolina.
The Baltimore Ravens signed Mekari as a free agent.
