BIOGRAPHY
Nevin Lawson was born on April 23rd, 1991 in Kingston, Jamaica. He is a cornerback in the NFL.
He is one of the three sons of Clive and Jennifer Lawson. He attended Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida. He was named second-team all- star Broward County. He was selected to the Broward County North- South All-Star Game, where he registered eight tackles and did not give up a pass reception. Also was named to the Miami-Dade/ Broward All-Star game. He was named the Bangals team MVP and he is also a letter winning sprinter in track and field.
After high school in 2010, he went to Utah State University. He appeared in nine games, and making two starts during the season. He made a game-clinching interception in the end zone versus San Jose State. Which earned him a nomination for the WAC’s Defensive Player of the Week. In 2011, in his second career interception in the waning moments to seal a victory, also doing so in 2010 at San Jose State. He logged a career-best nine tackles at Nevada, while posting eight against San Jose State. In 2012, he earned a second-team all WAC honors. In 2013, he earned third-team All-American honors from College Sports Madness and was named first-team all-Mountain West after ranking third in the conference and 25th in the nation in passes defended.
In the 2014 NFL Draft. The Detroit Lions selected Lawson in the fourth round. He made his professional regular season debut during the Detroit Lions' season-opening 35–14 victory over the New York Giants and finished with one solo tackle. Lawson entered training camp competing with Crezdon Butler, Chris Owens, and Quandre Diggs for the third cornerback position. He was named The Starting Nickelback to begin the regular season. On January 7, 2017, Lawson started the first playoff game of his career and collected seven combined tackles as the Lions were defeated 6–26 to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wildcard game. In March 19, 2019 he signed with the Oakland Raiders on a one-year $3.05 million deal.
