BIOGRAPHY
Matt Overton was born on July 6, 1985, in San Leandro, California. He is a long snapper for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. Overton attended Tracy high school and played college football at Western Washington University.
During high school, Overton earned Lineman of the Year, player of the month, athlete of the month awards, and 2002 SJAA honorable mention honors.
Overton played football for Diablo Valley College in 2003 then the Western Washington University offered Overton a scholarship as a defensive end and long snapper. At Diablo Valley, Overton played as a linebacker and defensive end as well as handled all the long snapping duties. During his freshman season, he was named team captain and voted special teams MVP after the season. While at Western Washington, Overton played in nine games, starting four of the last five, he was credited with 14 tackles (8 solos), 3 for losses of 10 yards and 1 quarterback sack for minus-7 yards, also had 1 pass breakup, he helped Vikings to 6-5 record and appearance in East County Growers Bowl as sophomore, was the Special Teams MVP (long snapper) and Team co-captain as freshman. He earned a starting job quickly as the team's long snapper, defensive end and was named a team captain. In his two seasons at WWU, Matt was credited with 40 tackles, five sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and had seven pass breakups. He was also perfect on all of his long snap attempts.
On April 3, 2012, the Indianapolis Colts signed Overton. He was used primarily as a long snapper. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013. On March 3, 2015, Overton signed a four-year extension with the Indianapolis Colts.
Matt Overton has played for multiple teams throughout his NFL journey and is currently playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL. On March 7, 2019, the Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed Overton to a one-year contract.
