BIOGRAPHY
Maliek Collins was born on April 8, 1995 in Kansas City, Kansas. He is a Defensive End in the NFL.
When Maliek was 6 years old, his father passed away from a heart attack. He grew up with 2 older sisters. When he attended Center High School, he was a 2 sports standout athlete in Wrestling and Football. His junior season, he had a 48-5 wrestling records while making it to top 8 in the state. The next season he was out for revenge. Maliek recorded a perfect 48-0 record while winning the Kansas state championship. In addition to winning state in wrestling, he had 102 tackles, 15 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 43 tackles for loss his senior season. He went on to accept a scholarship offer to play at the University of Nebraska.
Maliek played 3 seasons at Nebraska. As a freshman, he was a backup. The next season he was a starter while leading the team with 14 tackles for loss. He started all 12 games his junior season where he had a down season with only 7 tackles for loss. He entered the NFL draft with a college career that ended with 23 tackles for loss, 19 QB pressures and 8 sacks.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Maliek Collins with the 67th overall pick in the 2016 draft. He broke his foot the first week with the team and missed the preseason. He played in 14 of the games in 2016 and in all 26 games in 2017. During that time he had 1 forced fumble and 7.5 sacks. He underwent surgery in May of 2018 to repair the 5th metatarsal fracture. He went on to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders after his rookie contract ended in 2020.
On the Raiders, he played 10 games before suffering a shoulder injury that made him go to the injured reserved list. The Houston Texans signed Maliek for the 2021 season.
On March 23, 2021, Collins signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans. He started 15 games in 2021, recording a career-high 29 tackles, along with 2.5 sacks and an interception.
On March 18, 2022, Collins signed a two-year contract extension with the Texans.
