BIOGRAPHY
Logan Woodside was born on January 27th, 1995, in Frankfort, Kentucky. He plays quarterback in the National Football League.
In his early years, Woodside attended Franklin County High School where as a junior, he threw for 2,560 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for 417 yards and seven TDs. He also was a three-star recruit by Scout.com and was the Quarterback MVP at the Midwest Ultimate 100 Camp. In his senior year, Woodside completed 138-of-212 passes for 2,951 yards and a school-record 41 touchdowns, led his school to a 12-1 record, advancing to the third round of state playoffs and earned first-team all-state honors from MaxPreps. Woodside also rushed for 428 yards and nine TDs and added 65.5 tackles, five interceptions and 13 pass breakups on defense. He was named Offensive MVP for Team Kentucky in Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Game.
After he finished high school, Woodside committed to the University of Toledo where as a freshman in 2013, he played in four games, starting one against CMU on September 21st. He completed 14-of-24 passes for 185 yards off the bench to lead UT to a 33-21 victory over Eastern Washington on September 14th and had a season-best 81-yard TD pass against EWU. As a sophomore in 2014, Woodside ranked fourth in MAC in passing efficiency with 142.5 and completion percentage with 62.5 and 10th in passing yards with 188.6. He threw for 323 yards and career-high five TDs against EMU and was named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week. He also earned co-MAC West Division Player of the Week honors against the Bearcats and was named to the Academic All-MAC team. As a redshirted junior in 2016, Woodside was a first-team All-MAC selection and was named a Heisman Trophy “contender” by the Heisman Trophy Trust. He led the nation with 45 touchdown passes which broke the school record of 29 TD throws achieved twice by Bruce Gradkowski. His 45 TD passes are second among MAC all-time leaders, one shy of the record of 46 set by BGSU’s Matt Johnson in 2015. He was second in the country in passing efficiency with 183.3, led MAC and ranked sixth in the nation in passing yards per game with 317.6 and was second in MAC and fourth in nation in completion percentage with 69.1%. Woodside also had 24 completions of 40 or more yards, had at least three TD passes in 12 of 13 games, and had six games with at least four and one with five. He was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week and Manning Award “Star of the Week” for his efforts against Arkansas State where he had 23-of-31 passes for 371 yards and three TDs, was on the official watch list for Manning Award, presented annually to the nation’s top quarterback, and Maxwell Award, given to the top overall player in the country and was an Academic All-America nominee. In his senior year, Woodside was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year, earned Vern Smith Leadership Award, was named first-team All-MAC and was named Offensive Player of the Game for his performance in Toledo’s 45-28 victory over Akron in the MAC Championship Game on December 2nd. Woodside finished the season with 3,882 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, led the MAC in completion percentage with 64.2, passing efficiency with 162.2, TDs with 28, yards with 3,882, yards per completion with 14.7, and yards per attempt with 9.45. He was also named official “contender” for the Heisman Trophy by the Heisman Trophy Trust.
After he graduated from college, Woodside entered the 2018 NFL Draft where he was selected in the seventh round by the Cincinnati Bengals. He signed his rookie contract with the team on May 11th but was waived by the team on September 1st. On September 3rd he was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad but was waived by the team on September 25th. On November 27th, Woodside was selected in the third round by the San Antonio Commanders in the 2019 AAF QB Draft. He was named AAF Offensive Player of the Week after his performance against the Arizona Hotshots in Week 5 where he completed 21 of 27 passes for 290 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and a 120.7 passer rating. After the AAF suspended football operations, Woodside re-signed with the Tennessee Titans on April 8th, 2019. He was waived on August 31st and was signed to the practice squad the next day.
Woodside joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2023.
