BIOGRAPHY
Lerenteé Zavonne McCray was born on August 26, 1990, in Gainesville, Florida. He is a linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.
During his high school career, McCray Earned 11 sacks and 97 tackles as a junior. He averaged 17 tackles per game as a senior. He collected 118 tackles and nine sacks in his senior year while rushing for over 500 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. McCray was a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and No. 10 outside linebacker nationally by Rivals.com.
During his freshman season in 2009, McCray played in three games for the Gators, including the victories over Charleston Southern and Troy at home and the win over LSU on the road. He had five total tackles, including four solo and one assisted and notched one tackle in the Gators’ 13-3 win over LSU in Baton Rouge. In 2010 during his sophomore season, McCray played in 10 games. He tallied six tackles (five solos) on the season, returned a blocked punt 27 yards for his first career touchdown in the second quarter of the Outback Bowl vs. Penn State.
During his sophomore season in 2011, McCray appeared in nine games on the season, making five starts. He recorded 24 tackles on the season, with 1.5 sacks for a total of 10 yards, while adding three pass breakups and a forced fumble. During his junior season in 2012, McCray started 12 games for the Gators. He was named to 2012 Butkus Award Preseason Watch List, McCray tallied 25 tackles on the year (14 unassisted) with 4.5 TFL (3.0 sacks), one interception and one fumble recovery. He also had one pass breakup, and two quarterback hurries, with one forced fumble during the regular season. McCray earned his second-most tackles-for-loss in a season for his career with 1.0 against Texas A&M, LSU and Jacksonville State and 0.5 against Tennessee.
On April 27, 2013, McCray signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. In th 2015 season, McCray would be apart of the Super Bowl 50 winning Broncos teams. Following that signed, McCray signed with the Green Bay Packers who would trade him to the Buffalo Bills for a 2018 conditional seventh round draft pick. After a short stint wit the Bills, McCray would sign a one year contract with the Jaguars.
