BIOGRAPHY
Kavon Frazier was born on August 11, 1994, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He studied at the University of Michigan and is a safety for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. In his early years, Frazier attended Grand Rapids Christian High School where he practiced in football, basketball, and track. In football, he was a three-year starter and as a junior, he was named to the all-conference team. As a senior, he was a two-way player, registering 66 tackles, 858 rushing yards, and 15 touchdowns, while receiving Division 3/4 All-state, Detroit Free Press All-Area and All-conference honors. In basketball, he helped lead the team to a pair of conference titles and a district title as a senior.
After he finished high school, Frazier committed to the University of Central Michigan to play college football. As a freshman in 2012, he made his first appearance against Southeast Missouri State on August 30 and he recorded his first tackle against Michigan State on September 8. He recorded his first career interception at Eastern Michigan on November 10 and returned the interception for a 49 yard touchdown. As a sophomore in 2013, he played in all 12 games with nine starts and ranked fourth on the team with 67 total tackles. He tied for the team lead with three interceptions and five pass breakups and in his first career start, he recorded seven tackles and his first career interception against Michigan on August 31. He also played a major role in the upset against Ohio on October 12, recording six tackles, one forced fumble, and an interception that he returned for 23 yards to earn the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors.
As a junior in 2014, Frazier stepped on the field in all 13 games, while starting in three, earning the Academic All-MAC honors, ranking fourth on the team with 58 tackles with 34 solos, and breaking up four passes. He recorded a season-high of six solo tackles in a 24-10 victory over Kansas on September 20 and tallied five tackles including four solo stops against Western Kentucky in the Bahamas Bowl on December 24. In his senior year in 2015, he started all 13 games, earning the second-team All-MAC honors, leading the Chippewas and ranked ninth in the MAC with 108 tackles. He ranked 10th in the league with 8.3 tackles per game, recorded a team-high 74 unassisted tackles and ranked second in the MAC in that category. He ranked 22nd nationally in solo tackles per game with 5.7 and 59th in total tackles per game. He also had four pass breakups and was named MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week after the career-best 13-tackle performance against Oklahoma State on September 3. He was selected the MAC West Division Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking a punt against Eastern Michigan on November 27 and tallied five unassisted tackles in the Quick Lane Bowl against Minnesota on December 28.
After graduating from college, he entered the 2016 NFL Draft where he was selected in the sixth round by the Dallas Cowboys. As a rookie, he played mainly on special teams and was declared inactive in 4 games. He tallied 2 defensive tackles and 4 special team tackles. In 2017, he tied for the team lead with 10 special team tackles and began to be used more on the defense. On August 3, 2018, Frazier was back on the active roster.
