BIOGRAPHY
Josh Jackson was born on April 3rd, 1996 in Corinth, Texas. He is a cornerback for the Green Bay Packers in the NFL.
His nicknames include “Scoota,” “Jacko,” and “Rando.” His father, Paul, was a pitcher and attended spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His dad’s cousin, Rodney Milburn, won the gold medal in the 110m hurdles in the 1972 Olympics and his sister, Sophia, runs track at Drake University.
Jackson attended Lake Dallas High School in Corinth, Texas, where he played high school football as a cornerback and wide receiver. He was a team captain his senior year and recorded 24 receptions for 485 yards averaging 20.2 yards per catch and nine touchdowns. He also helped his team reach the second round of the state playoffs as a junior. In addition to football, Jackson lettered four times in basketball and three times in track and field at Lake Dallas. Jackson qualified for the state track meet in the triple jump as a junior. He committed to the University of Iowa on 08/22/2013 to play college football.
After redshirting his first year at Iowa in 2014, Jackson played in all 14 games in 2015. He recorded eight tackles and was part of a Hawkeye team that opened the season 12-0 for the first time in school history. It was the fifth time in school history that Iowa completed an undefeated regular season and the first time since 1922. In 2016, he played in 12 games and made one start and recorded ten tackles. As a first-year starter his junior year in 2017, he logged eight interceptions and returned two of them for scores. Jackson was named Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year and a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. He was awarded the Jack Tatum Trophy is given yearly to the top collegiate defensive back. On January 3rd, 2018, Jackson declared his intentions to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Green Bay Packers selected Jackson in the second round with the 45th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. On May 17th, 2018, the Green Bay Packers signed Jackson to a four-year, $6.25 million contract that includes $3.87 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $2.62 million.
Throughout training camp, Jackson competed to be a starting cornerback against Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, Tramon Williams, and Davon House. Head coach Mike McCarthy named Jackson the fifth cornerback on the depth chart to begin the regular season. He started behind Tramon Williams, Kevin King, Jaire Alexander, and Davon House.
He made his professional regular-season debut, and first career start in the Green Bay Packers’ season-opener against the Chicago Bears and made three solo tackles during their 24–23 victory. On September 16th, 2018, Jackson recorded four solo tackles and scored the first touchdown of his career during a 29–29 tie against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Jackson recovered a punt by Matt Wile and caught it in the endzone for a touchdown after Geronimo Allison blocked it during the first quarter. On November 25th, 2018, Jackson collected a season-high eight combined tackles at the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. He finished his rookie season in 2018 with 48 combined tackles (39 solo) and ten pass deflections in 16 games and ten starts.
