BIOGRAPHY
Jonas Griffith was born on January 27, 1997 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a linebacker in the NFL.
Home-schooled until his senior year, Griffith's only played one year of organized football. In his first high school football game, he recorded a receiving touchdown as well as an interception. That year he recorded six receiving touchdowns, one rushing score, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. He also played basketball, ran track and earned All-State honors in track.
Griffith attended college at Indiana State University. He was redshirted in 2015 and for 2016 he played in 10 games for the Sycamores as a key contributor both at linebacker and on special teams. He was eighth on the roster with 37 total tackles (24 solo), 1.0 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception. In all, he played in 44 games (34 starts) in five years (2015-19) at Indiana State and recorded 382 tackles, 50.0 tackles for a loss, 14.0 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions. In 2019, named First-Team All-MVFC and earned MVFC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award as well as MVFC Academic Honor Roll accolades.
On April 25, 2020, Griffith was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent.
On August 31, 2021, Griffith was traded, alongside a 2022 seventh-round pick, to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round pick and a 2023 seventh-round pick. He was placed on injured reserve on September 28, 2021. He was activated on October 30. After an impressive showing, 13 appearances and 4 starts, during the 2021 season; Denver tendered Griffith an exclusive-rights free agent offer.
