John Simpson was born on August 19, 1997 in North Charleston, South Carolina. He is an offensive guard in the National Football League.

When growing up in North Charleston, John and his younger brother were raised by a single mother, He was a 4-star recruit and the #3 offensive guard in his class. He committed to Clemson starting his career in 2016.

As a true freshman, Simpson played in 9 games in the national championship run. He stayed all 4 years at Clemson while starting every games his junior and senior year. He finished his college career the same way he started it, with another national championship. His senior season he as a 1st team all-American according to the associated press. The Raiders selected John Simpson in the 4th round (109th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft.

On the Raiders, he played in 7 games while starting 2 of them. Simpson joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2023.
