Joe Flacco was born on January 16, 1985, in Voorhees, New Jersey. He is a quarterback in the NFL.
He played college football at Delaware after transferring from Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Flacco also played for the Denver Broncos and New York Jets.
Flacco was Baltimore's starting quarterback from 2008 until midway through the 2018 season, and helped lead the Ravens to the playoffs six times; during his tenure in Baltimore the Ravens won the AFC North twice, appeared in three AFC Championship Games, and beat the San Francisco 49ers to win Super Bowl XLVII following the 2012 season. Flacco was named Super Bowl XLVII's MVP, concluding a postseason run in which he tied Joe Montana's single postseason record for touchdown passes (11) without an interception. That offseason, Flacco signed a six-year contract worth $120.6 million, a record high for a quarterback at the time.
By the late 2010s, Flacco's performance began to decline and he was eventually traded to the Denver Broncos following the 2018 season after a hip injury caused him to lose his starting position to Lamar Jackson. A neck injury eight games into the 2019 season ended Flacco's year prematurely and he was released by the Broncos after the season when the team chose to start Drew Lock. He subsequently joined the New York Jets to back up Sam Darnold before starting for them as well.
As of the conclusion of the 2020 NFL season, Flacco has the most career passing yards and touchdowns for any quarterback never to be named to a Pro Bowl. However, Flacco holds the record for most postseason road victories by a quarterback (7) and has a career playoff record of 10-5. Flacco is also known for having one of the strongest arms in the NFL.
In 2021, he got traded from the Eagles to the Jets.
On November 20, 2023, Flacco was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad, following a season-ending injury to their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson. Flacco was named the starter for Week 13 against the Los Angeles Rams after Dorian Thompson-Robinson was ruled out with a concussion. He was again named the starter against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. In the game, Flacco completed 26 of 45 passes for 311 yards, three touchdowns and one interception as the Browns won 31–27. Following the win, the Browns announced that Flacco would remain the starter moving forward.
Flacco signed a one year deal with the Browns on December 14, 2024.
