BIOGRAPHY
Jacob Tuioti-Mariner was born on July 25, 1996, in Corona, California. He is a defensive tackle in the NFL. He played college football at the University of California, in Los Angeles.
At high school, Tuioti was a four-star recruit according to scout.com, the nation’s No. 110 prospect, the No. 11-ranked prospect in the state of California and No. 20 recruit in the West and Scout’s No. 14 defensive end prospect nationally. He won First-team All-CIF Pac-5 Division, was a four stars player according to rivals.com, and was Rivals’ No. 15 weak-side defensive end in the nation and the No. 32 prospect in the state of California and PrepStar All-West Region. Jacob was credited with 108 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries as a senior and was named to Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team first-team defense. He led the team to an undefeated season and the Open Division Bowl Game title, had 38 tackles and 4.5 sacks as a junior and earned four letters in volleyball and won two league titles.
During the first year of college in 2014, Jacob saw action in 10 games as a reserve along the defensive front and was credited with five tackles on the season and one quarterback hit. He made a best of two tackles in the Memphis game and also made stops at Arizona State, at Washington, and vs. USC.
As a sophomore in 2015, Tuioti appeared in 13 games and made one start (at Arizona), was credited with 34 tackles (3.5 for loss and 2.0 sacks which tied for fifth on the team), made at least three stops in seven contests, totaled a season-best five tackles in his start at Arizona and had four tackles each in games against UNLV, Stanford and USC.
On the 2016 season, he saw action in all 12 games, nine as a starter along the defensive line. Tuioti ranked sixth on the team with 46 tackles, was fourth on the squad with 5.0 tackles for loss and third with 3.0 sacks, made multiple tackles in 11 games, had at least four stops in six games, had season-best of 7 tackles vs. USC and recorded 2.0 tackles for loss at Colorado.
The following year, in 2017, Jacob starter in all 13 games, posting career-bests across the board in tackles, tackles for loss and sacks, getting an Honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection. He totaled a career-best 10 stops vs. Arizona State, set a new personal best with his 2.0 sacks against ASU, ranked sixth in the Pac-12 in sacks per game (0.58) and was credited with at least four tackles in seven games.
On April 30, 2018, he signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
