BIOGRAPHY
Jack Conklin was born on August 17th, 1994, in Plainwell, Michigan. He plays offensive tackle in the NFL. In his early years, Conklin attended Plainwell High School where he was a three-year starter. As a junior, Conklin contributed 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds while as a senior, he earned first-team All-Wolverine Conference and first-team All-Allegan County honors in 2011 and was an honorable mention all-state selection by The Associated Press and The Detroit News. He also was a Kalamazoo Gazette Division 1-4 first-team all-area selection and led the Trojans with 80 tackles.
After he finished high school, Conklin committed to the University of Michigan where as a redshirted freshman in 2013, he played in 14 games and started 13 at left and right tackle. He was named first-team Freshman All-American by Sporting News, CollegeFootballNews.com and the Football Writers Association of America and was named to ESPN.com Big Ten All-Freshman Team. He also was an Academic All-Big Ten selection and was a recipient of MSU's Outstanding Underclass Lineman Award. Conklin made his collegiate debut against Western Michigan where he played 74 snaps against the Broncos and recorded 5.5 knockdowns. He finished the season with 55 knockdowns. As a sophomore in 2014, Conklin was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and was a first-team All-Big Ten pick by BTN.com and second-team pick by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. He also was named a fourth-team All-American by Athlon Sports and was named to CollegeFootballNews.com All-Sophomore Team. Conklin only allowed 2.5 sacks all season and led the team with 113.5 knockdowns, including nine dominators, and played a team-high 959 snaps. He was selected Spartan Offensive Lineman of the Week vs. Rutgers after MSU scored 45 points and racked up 520 yards of total offense in the win over the Scarlet Knights, was named Spartan Offensive Player of the Week after producing a team-best 10 knockdowns at Purdue, was named Spartan Offensive Lineman of the Week after recording a career-best 15.5 knockdowns against Wyoming as MSU rushed for 338 yards and didn't allow a sack and was named Spartan Offensive Lineman of the Week after recording nine knockdowns, including two dominators, in the season opener against Jacksonville State, as MSU racked up 565 total yards. As a junior in 2015, Conklin was named first-team All-American by Sporting News, first-team USA TODAY, second-team Associated Press, second-team CBS Sports, second-team Football Writers Association of America, second-team Walter Camp Football Foundation, third-team Phil Steele and was an honorable mention by SI.com. He became the first Spartan offensive tackle to be named a first-team All-American since Flozell Adams in 1997. He played in 12 games where he recorded 65.5 knockdowns and graded out as a winner in eight of his 10 regular-season games. He also helped anchor a Spartan offensive line that rushed for 174 yards on Iowa, the nation's sixth-ranked rushing defense in the Big Ten Championship Game and he was also named Spartan Offensive Lineman of the Week a team-best four times against Western Michigan, against Michigan, against Indiana, and against Ohio State.
After his junior year, Conklin decided to forego his senior year and enter the 2016 NFL Drat where he was selected in the first round by the Tennessee Titans and on May 26th he signed a four-year contract with the team. As a rookie in 2016, Conklin was named first-team Associated Press All-Pro at right tackle. He started all 16 games on the right side and was a part of an offensive front that blocked for the NFL’s third-ranked rushing attack which averaged 136.7 rush yards per game. In 2017, Conklin became just the fifth player in the ‘Titans Era’ to have started all 32 games from the time they were drafted through their second seasons.
