BIOGRAPHY
Gardner Minshew II was born on May 16th, 1996, in Flowood, Mississippi. He is a quarterback in the National Football League.
He attended Brandon High School; as a senior, he was named to all-state and all-metro squads. He was named the South’s Offensive MVP in the 2014 Bernard Blackwell All-Star Game. He recorded completed 243 passes for 3,541 yards and 31 touchdowns, while also rushing for 158 yards and two scores, he tallied 11,222 career passing yards and 105 total touchdowns.
He played college football for the Wildcats at the Washington State University; he attended Northwest Mississippi College Carrer. As a freshman in 2015, led NWCC to an NJCAA National Championship and completed 223-of-367 passes for 3,288 yards and 28 touchdowns for NWCC during freshman campaign. He earned Mississippi Bowl Player-of-the-Year honors for performance in the championship tilt, which included 302 yards and three scores in the first half alone and an overall 23-of-30 aerial effort (76.6 completion percentage); also rushed for three touchdowns.
He attended East Carolina University as a sophomore in 2016, appeared in seven games, two as a starter; he completed 119-of-202 passes (58.9%) for eight touchdowns and four interceptions. As a junior in 2017, went 293-of-506 for 2,140 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He graduated from East Carolina in December 2017 and enrolled at WSU in June 2018. He finished fifth in 2018 Heisman Trophy voting and won 2018, Johnny Unitas, Golden Arm Award (nation’s top senior or 4th-year junior QB); also named a finalist for Walter Camp Player of the Year and Davey O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback). He was named semifinalist for Maxwell Award (college player of the year), Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year and to All-Pac-12 First Team and led the country in passing (367.6).
He was second in the country in passing yards (4,779), and total offense (376.8), fourth in touchdown passes (38) and third in completion percentage (70.7%), each are Pac-12 bests; he set Pac-12 Conference and WSU single-season records in passing yards (4,779) and completions (468) and set WSU single-season record for total offense (4,898) and tied WSU single-season record for passing touchdowns (38).
The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Minshew in the sixth round, 178th overall, of the 2019 NFL Draft. Minshew was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles on August 28, 2021, in exchange for a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Minshew signed with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023.
Minshew signed a 2-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2024 offseason.
