BIOGRAPHY
Donald Lynn Muhlbach Jr. was born on August 17, 1981, in Newark, Ohio. He is a long snapper for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He played college football for Texas A&M University.
He played college football for the Aggies at Texas A&M University, where he served as the team's long snapper for the 2003 season. He also saw action at punter as a sophomore during the 2001 season.
Muhlbach signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens on April 30, 2004. On November 10, 2004, the Detroit Lions signed him.
In 2012 he was named to his first-ever Pro Bowl following the season. In 2013 he snapped for K David Akers as he has made 18-of-24 field goals and 42-of-43 extra-point attempts in the season. In 2014 he concluded his 11th NFL season as the elder statesmen in the Lions special teams room and provided leadership for second-year P Sam Martin. By playing in Week 2 at Carolina (9/14), Muhlbach played in his 150th-career game and became only the 20th player in franchise history to play 150 career games with the club.
In 2015 he became the 17th player in franchise history to play 12 seasons with the Lions by playing in Week 1 at San Diego (9/13). By playing at Chicago in the 2015 season finale, played in his 180th career game and became the eighth player in team history to appear in 180+ career games.
In 2016 he Became the ninth player in franchise history to play 13 seasons with the Lions by playing in Week 1 at Indianapolis (9/11), tying him for fifth place among all players for career seasons played in Lions history.
On March 3, 2017, the Lions re-signed Muhlbach to a one-year contract for the third straight year. On March 10, 2018, Muhlbach re-signed with the Lions. On January 16, 2019, Muhlbach was named to his second Pro Bowl. On February 13, 2019, Muhlbach signed a one-year contract extension with the Lions.
