Dawuane Smoot was born on March 2nd, 1995 in Groveport, Ohio. He is a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.

He attended Groveport Madison high school he was a three-star recruit by Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports; as a senior, he had d 91 tackles, 14 sacks, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He was ranked the No. 68 defensive end in the nation by 247Sports and No. 54 player in Ohio by Rivals.

He played college football for the Fighting Illini at the University of Illinois; as a freshman in 201, he played in seven games and Notched eight tackles and one sack on the season. In 2014 he played in all 13 games, making 33 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, three Q.B. hurries on the season.

In 2015 he started all 12 games on the defensive line and recorded 40 tackles, 15.0 TFLs, 8.0 sacks, two PBUs, three Q.B. hurries, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries on the season. He led the team in TFLs (15.0) and sacks (8.0) and was All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches and media.

In 2016 he was the team captain and started all 12 games at defensive tackle. He had 56 tackles, 15.0 TFLs, 5.0 sacks, 10 Q.B. hurries, one PBU, two forced fumbles on the season; he earned All-Big Ten third team, Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten second team and Phil Steele All-Big Ten third team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected in the third round (68th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.
