David Irving was born on August 18, 1993 un Compton, California. He is a defensive tackle in the NFL.

Irving was born in Compton, but moved to San Jacinto as a kid. He went to San Jacinto High School where he played both tight end and defensive end. His senior season, he had 76 tackles, 15 for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries as well as 19 catches for 298 yards and four touchdowns. He went on to commit to play at Iowa State University.

While at Iowa State University, he played three seasons. His freshman season, David played in 9 games. During the 2012 season, he played in all 13 games while making 20 tackles. He made the starting lineup his junior year while recording 19 stops, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, four pass breakups and two blocked kicks. David decided to declared to the 2015 season where he went undrafted. The Chiefs picked him up. The Raiders picked him up in 2020.
