Da'Shawn Hand was born on November 14, 1995, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He played college football at Alabama.

He played college football for the Crimson at the University of Alabama; in 2014 he played in nine games, finishing with seven tackles (four solo) and two sacks on the season. In 2015 he played in 15 games, recording 6.5 tackles and three sacks. He helped his team win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

In 2016 he played in 15 games, totaling 21 tackles (10 solo). In 2017 he played in 11 games (nine starts) and recorded 27 tackles, three sacks, and one pass defense. He helped his team win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

He Joins the Lions as a fourth-round pick (114th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He made his professional debut in the Lions' season opener against the New York Jets. In Week 4, against the Dallas Cowboys, he recorded his first professional sack. In the next game, he was able to record another sack in the victory against the Green Bay Packers.
