BIOGRAPHY
Dakota Devon Allen was born on November 2th, 1995 in Dallas, Texas. He is a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders in the NFL.
He attended Summer Creek, high school; he was a three-star prospect by Rivals, Scout, 247Sports, and ESPN and logged 112 tackles and three interceptions as a senior. He was ranked as the nation’s No. 23 inside linebacker according to ESPN and was District 19-4A Defensive MVP.
He played college football at Texas Tech; in 2014 he redshirted. In 2015 he became a regular for the Red Raiders at linebacker and on special teams and ranked second on the team with 87 tackles on the season, 45 of which were solo takedowns; he earned Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.
In 2016 as a sophomore he transferred to Mississippi community college; he spent the season as a standout linebacker for East Mississippi Community College. He helped lead the Lions to an 11-1 record, including a perfect 6-0 mark in MACJC play and he earned All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State/North first-team honors.
In 2017 he transferred back to Texas Tech, and as a junior, he was elected a team captain before the season and then proceeded to start all 13 games at WILL linebacker. He sparked a defensive turnaround for the Red Raiders with a team-leading 102 tackles to go along with two sacks, a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery; he added four pass breakups and three quarterback hurries and six of his tackles went for a loss, resulting in 28 yards. He earned All-Big 12 second team (coaches & Associated Press) and All-Big 12 first-team selection by Pro Football Focus.
In 2018 as a senior he Turned in another strong season to wrap his Red Raider career, he was named a team captain for the second-straight year before the season and appeared in 11 games on the season, all starts. He closed the year with 73 tackles (33 solo), which ranked second on the team, his total included 6.5 tackles for a loss, resulting in 14 yards and shared one sack and added five quarterback hurries in the backfield; he led the Red Raiders with two fumble recoveries.
The Los Angeles Rams drafted Allen in the seventh round (251st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft.
