BIOGRAPHY
Christian Convington was born on October 15, 1993, in Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada. He is a defensive end in the NFL.
Covington went to Vancouver College prep. He was a Provincial Defensive MVP while leading the Fighting Irish to the Provincial Championship. He was ranked as the top defensive lineman in Canada. Convington was credited with four tackles in the 2010 National Underclassmen Combine All-World Gridiron Classic in Charleston, S.C.
In 2011, Convington was redshirted, but in 2012 he closed out a rock-solid redshirted freshman by named to USA Today's All-Bowl team for his efforts vs. Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. In 2013, he was a member of the 2013 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. He was the first sophomore DT from Rice to be honored as first-team, all-conference. In his last year, He was an honors candidate and watch list selection who switched from No.56 to No.1 to honor ND Kalu as part of the Owl's Honor Jersey Program. In 2015, he was the first owl to leave early for the NFL Draft since James Casey in 2009.
In the 2015 NFL Draft, Convington was drafted by the Houston Texans. On March 14, 2019, Convington signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
On September 4, 2020, Covington was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Covington signed with the Los Angeles Chargers on May 11, 2021. He played in 16 games with three starts, recording a career-high 52 tackles, a forced fumble and a sack.
On March 17, 2022, Covington re-signed with the Chargers. He was released on August 30, 2022 and signed to the practice squad the next day.
On May 10, 2023, Covington signed with the Detroit Lions.
