BIOGRAPHY
Britton Douglas Colquitt was born on March 20, 1985, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a punter for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL.
Colquitt attended to Bearden High School and played college football at the University of Tennessee.
Several of Colquitt's family members have punted in the NFL. His father, Craig, won two Super Bowl rings playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His older brother, Dustin, is the current punter for the Kansas City Chiefs. His uncle, Jimmy, punted at Tennessee (1981–1984); his 43.9 punting average ranks first in school history. Jimmy played in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks in 1985.
During high school, Colquitt was three-year kicker and punter with an averaged 45.2 yards on 41 punts and made 52-yard field goal as a senior. He tallied 16 goals and 15 assists at forward.
In 2005 during his freshman season, Colquitt played 11 games with 11 starts. He punted 59 times during freshman campaign and averaged 41.2 yards per punt with 19 kicks downed inside 20-yard line. Britton punted eight times at LSU for a 38.6-yard average, with long of 50. Colquitt posted the highest single-game average of 46.7 on six punts vs. Vanderbilt.
During his sophomore season in 2006, Colquitt played 12 games with 12 starts. He punted four times for an average of 48.2 against Florida. He punted three times for an average of 56.0 with season-long of 63 yards against Marshall, all three punts downed inside 20 against Thundering Herd. He averaged 48.0 on three punts against Georgia. Colquitt punted season-high eight times against Arkansas for an average of 39.1. He finished the season with five punts for 44-yard average at Outback Bowl.
In 2007 during his junior season, Colquitt played 13 games with 13 starts. Colquitt was selected SEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the win over Georgia. He punted five times for a 46.2-yard average at Florida and punted four times for 46.8-yard average against Arkansas State. Colquitt Added seven punts for a 42.1-yard average in Outback Bowl against Wisconsin.
During his senior season In 2008, Colquitt played seven games with seven starts. He finished his career second on Tennessee's all-time punting list. He punted 42 times during the senior season for a 43.4-yard average and was invited to NFL Combine.
Colquitt was signed to the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins on December 22, 2009. Colquitt was signed to the Denver Broncos' active roster from the Miami Dolphins' practice squad on December 30, 2009. In the 2011 season, Colquitt accumulated 4,783 yards, enough for fifth all time for single-season punting yards in a season.
Colquitt made his NFL debut and had four punts for 172 net yards (43.00 average). On February 7, 2016, Colquitt was part of the Broncos team that won Super Bowl 50.
On September 3, 2016, Colquitt signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns. Britton Colquitt has played for multiple teams throughout his NFL journey and is currently playing for the Cleveland Browns for the National Football League. On February 28, 2017, Colquitt signed a four-year contract extension with the Browns.
