BIOGRAPHY
Brett Jones was born on July 29th, 1991, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, and currently plays center for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL. Jones attended Weyburn Comprehensive High School and played college football at the University of Regina. During high school, Jones won 3A city championships with Weyburn Comprehensive in both 2007 and 2008 and won the provincial 3A championship in 2007. He was named a Stewart Conference all-star in 2008, served as team co-captain in 2008.
Jones played for the University of Regina football team from 2009 to 2012. In 2009, Jones played in all eight of the team's conference games, started the final four regular-season games and the team's Canada West semifinal game at Saskatchewan (Nov. 7) at left guard. He was named an Academic All-Canadian. In 2010, Jones played in six of the team's eight conference games, started at left guard on Sept. 3 against Manitoba and on Sept. 10 at Calgary, and at the center on Sept. 17 against Saskatchewan. He was named an Academic All-Canadian. In 2011, Jones was named Canada West's nominee for the Russ Jackson Award, which is presented to the player best exemplifying the attributes of academic achievement, football skill, and citizenship, also named a first-team All-Canadian, a Canada West all-star, and an Academic All-Canadian. He started seven conference games and the team's Canada West semifinal game at left guard. In 2012, Jones was named the conference's top lineman and was Canada West's nominee for the J.P. Metras Trophy, Canada West's nominee for the Russ Jackson Award as the conference's top student-athletes for the second consecutive season also named a first-team All-Canadian and a Canada West all-star for the second season in a row. He started all eight games on the offensive line during the conference schedule, making four starts at left guard and four starts at center.
In the 2013 CFL Draft, Jones was drafted in the second round, 16th overall by the Stampeders and signed with the team on May 29, 2013. He played CIS football for the Regina Rams. He won the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award in 2014 after winning the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2013. On February 10, 2015, it was reported that the New York Giants were signing Jones. It was made official when the Giants announced the signing on February 11, 2015.
Brett Jones has played for multiple teams throughout his NFL journey and is currently playing for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL. On April 1, 2019, Jones re-signed with the Vikings.
