BIOGRAPHY
Brandon Powell was born on September 12, 1996, in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He is a wide receiver in the NFL. Powell played college football at Florida.
During high school, Powell was a 4-star recruit and was ranked 267th overall in the ESPN 300 and was also the 34th ranked athlete in the 2014 recruiting class. During his freshman season in 2014, Powell played in 11 games starting twice. He saw time at both running back and receiver. Powell totaled 16 carries for 70 yards with one touchdown on the ground and had 15 receptions for 147 yards with one receiving touchdown. Powell opened his career with a 12-yard rushing touchdown in the season opener against Eastern Michigan.
In 2015 during his sophomore season, Powell appeared in all 14 games, starting 10. He returned 24 of 33 kickoffs for UF as a season ago with an average of 21.2 yards per return and notched a 71-yard kickoff return on the opening kickoff against Vanderbilt, which was the longest by a Gator to open a game since Andre Debose’s 99-yard kickoff return against South Carolina on Nov. 13, 2010. Overall, Powell caught 29 passes for 390 yards in 2015 for an average of 27.9 yards per game.
During his junior season in 2016, Powell recorded 11 starts and played in all 13 games throughout the season. He finished second on the team with 45 receptions and 387 receiving yards. He tallied seven rushes for 18 yards and returned five punts and two kickoffs throughout the season. Powell notched a career-high nine catches and 59 receiving yards against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game. In 2017 during his senior season, Powell played in all 11 games. He totaled a team-best 42 catches for 406 yards and three touchdowns on the season.
Powell signed for the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent on May 11, 2018.
Powell signed with the Buffalo Bills on a one-year contract on March 26, 2021.
On November 4, 2021, Powell was signed to the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. On December 26, 2021 in a game against the Minnesota Vikings, Powell returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown that was key in the Rams' victory, ensuring a playoff berth for the team. He was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his NFL career for his performance. Powell won Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.
