BIOGRAPHY
William Price was born on October 11, 1994, in Austintown, Ohio. He is a center in the NFL.
Price attended Fitch High School in Austintown where he played defensive line, and as a senior in 2012 was named first-team all-state and Division I co-defensive player of the year in Ohio (AP). He helped Fitch to state playoff berths as a sophomore, junior and senior. Price also competed in track and field (discus and shotput) and was awarded two-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference (2014 and 2017), and two-time OSU Scholar-Athlete (2013 and 2014).
During college, he spent five years (2013-17) at Ohio State, with a redshirt season in 2013. Price started all 55 possible games in his OSU career, setting a school record for both starts and consecutive starts (both previous records were 50, by current University of Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell), and two-time team captain (2016 and 2017). He aided blocking effort for OSU rushing offenses that led the Big Ten three times (2015-2017) and ranked in the top 20 nationally all four years of his career. After spending the first three seasons at G, moved to C as a senior in 2017. In the first season at C, won Rimington Trophy as nation’s most outstanding center, was unanimous first-team All-American, won Rimington-Pace Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, and was first-team All-Big Ten (coaches and media) and Academic All-Big Ten Conference. As a redshirt freshman in 2014, started all 15 games at G and helped OSU to a national title.
By 2018, Price played and started in 10 games at C (game 1-2, 9-16) but missed games 3-8, due to a foot injury suffered in game 2 vs. Baltimore. He contributed to blocking efforts for HB Joe Mixon, who rushed for AFC-best 1168 yards and became the first Bengal to rush for 1000 yards since Jeremy Hill in 2014. On November 25 vs. Cleveland, Price supported a season-high 155 yards from the scrimmage for Mixon and assisted the offense in controlling the season-high time of possession (33:19) on December 16 vs. Oakland. Additionally, he supported Mixon’s season-high 129 rushing yards. Price was selected to the All-Rookie team by the Professional Football Writers of America. Cincinnati drafted him in the first round of 2018 NFL Draft and signed with the Bengals on May 21, 2018.
