BIOGRAPHY
Ben Jones was born on July 2nd, 1989, in Centreville, Alabama, and currently plays center in the NFL.
He attended Bibb County high school, where he was a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and was a two-way lineman and team captain. He also played defensive tackle, registering 55 tackles, three sacks, six tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery; he played baseball and was Baseball All-Star.
He played college football at the University of Georgia; in 2008, as a freshman, he appeared in 13 games, making ten starts at center and was Named Freshman All-SEC by SEC Coaches. He was also selected to Sporting News’ and Phil Steele’s All-Freshman Second Team.
As a sophomore in 2019, he started all 13 games and was Named All-SEC Second Team by SEC Coaches, also selected to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-SEC Third Team.
Jones was drafted in the fourth round by the Houston Texans in the 2012 NFL draft; started the final ten games of the season at right guard and was named the Texans Rookie of the Year. In 2014, Jones started all 16 contests at left guard.
In 2015, he transitioned to his natural position of center and started all 16 games and the playoff contest for the Texans. In 2016, he centered all 16 games in his first campaign with the Titans and was a part of an offensive front that blocked for the NFL’s third-ranked rushing attack, which averaged 136.7 rush yards per game.
In 2018, Jones started all 16 games at center, registering a start in every contest for the fifth consecutive season (2014-15 with Houston); he appeared in his 100th career game in Week 4 of the 2018 season. He has never missed a game in his seven-year career. Jones signed a two-year, $13.5 million contract extension with the Titans on August 30, 2019.
