BIOGRAPHY
Barkevious Mingo was born on October 4th, 1990, in Belle Glade, Florida. He is an outside linebacker for the Houston Texans in the NFL.
Barkevious attended West Monroe High, where he was a 5A first-team all-state selection who recorded 59 tackles and four forced fumbles as a senior. He contributed with seven tackles, including 4.0 tackles for loss as he helped West Monroe to the state championship game in 2008. Mingo tallied 55 tackles, 6.0 sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss as a junior. He was named to the New Orleans Times Picayune Blue Chip List and the Baton Rouge Advocate Super Dozen.
Mingo attended LSU and became an asset to their football team. He appeared in 40 games with 15 starts, registering 119 tackles (60 solo), 15.0 sacks, 29.0 tackles for loss, 27 quarterback hits, 11 passes defended, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He was a second-team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press and the league's coaches. Mingo majored in sports administration.
He was originally drafted by Cleveland as the 6th pick in the 1st round. Since then, he has played in 78 games with 22 starts with Cleveland, New England and Indianapolis, collecting 145 tackles (100 solo), 9.0 sacks, one interception, 13 passes defended, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in his career.
On March 16th, 2018, the Seattle Seahawks signed Mingo to a two-year, $6.80 million contract that includes $3.20 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $2.20 million. Throughout training camp, Mingo competed against D. J. Alexander to be a starting outside linebacker. Head coach Pete Carroll named Mingo and K. J. Wright the starting outside linebackers to begin the regular season. They started alongside middle linebacker Bobby Wagner. In Week 6, Mingo collected a season-high seven solo tackles during a 27-3 victory at the Oakland Raiders. He finished the season with a career-high 48 combined tackles (37 solo), two forced fumbles, a pass deflection, and one sack in 16 games and 14 starts.
