BIOGRAPHY
Anthony Harris was born on October 9th, 1991, in Richmond, Virginia, and currently plays safety in the NFL.
He attended Lloyd C. Bird high school, where he played quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back. He was first-team Associated Press 2010 All-Group AAA football team and two-time all-state and all-region selection at DB. He was named to the 2010 All-Dominion District first-team as a utility player and earned all-district second-team accolades at QB and DB.
He played college football at the University of Virginia; as a freshman in 2011, he appeared in 13 games mostly on special teams and recorded 14 tackles. As a sophomore in 2012, he started 12 games and was No. 3 on the team with 87 tackles.
In 2013 as a junior, he appeared in all 12 games with 11 starts and ranked No. 1 in the nation with eight interceptions; his eight interceptions are the most by a UVa player since Ronde Barber led the ACC with eight in 1994. The eight interceptions place Harris No. 2 all-time at UVa for interceptions in a season and tied with Barber and Kevin Cook (1987).
As a senior in 2014, he started 12 games and recorded 108 tackles ranking him No. 5 in the ACC and No. 31 in the nation. He was No. 2 on the team with 66 tackles on rushing plays for a defense that ranks No. 20 nationally against the rush (120.7 yards per game) and No. 5 in the ACC with 12 passes defended; he also recorded two interceptions.
On May 2nd, 2015, the Minnesota Vikings signed Harris as an undrafted free agent. During his rookie season, he spent time in the practice squad and started 2 out of 4 games he played; he recorded 15 combined tackles (12 solo) and two pass deflections.
During the 2016 season, he started a career-high three games, competing in all 16 contests, and posted 39 tackles (29 solo), 1 PD and 1 FR for the NFL’s 3rd-ranked defense (314.9 ypg). In 2017 he played in all 16 games and started 3 of those recording 16 tackles, 1 PD 1 FF, 2 FRs, and eight special teams tackles on the season.
In the 2018 season, he took over the starting position and started 9 out of 15 games he played; he recorded a career-high 43 total tackles (31 solo), 3 INTs, and 6 PBUs.
In 2021, he signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
