BIOGRAPHY
Alex Singleton was born on December 7, 1993, in Thousand Oaks, California. He is a linebacker in the National Football League.
He studied at the University of Montana State and is a linebacker that has played in multiple teams throughout his NFL career such as the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots, the Minnesota Vikings, the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, and currently the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. In his early years, Singleton attended Thousand Oaks High School where he earned all-conference and all-county honors at linebacker, an All-CIF Northern Division and also earned Thousand Oaks High’s Defensive MVP honors.
After he finished high school, Singleton committed to the University of Montana State where as a freshman in 2011, he burned his redshirt midway through the season, becoming a significant special teams contributor on MSU’s second straight title team and logged six tackles on the season. As a sophomore in 2012, he played in 12 games and punctuated an outstanding campaign with a nine-tackle outing against UC Davis and logging one sack and another tackle for loss. He also logged six tackles against Sam Houston, including three for a loss. As a junior in 2013, Singleton was MSU’s leading tackler with 110 on the season, and his 16.5 tackles-for-loss missed MSU’s top 10 list in that category by 0.5 TFL, earning the Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors in spite of leading all league linebackers in tackles-for-loss. He also finished 12th in the Big Sky in tackles-per-game with 9.2, fifth with two fumbles forced and tied for fourth with three interceptions. In his senior season in 2014, he was MSU’s third-year starting Will linebacker, enters the season on the CFPA National Watch List as one of the tops in the FCS at his position.
After he graduated from college, Singleton entered the 2015 NFL Draft where he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2015. He signed a three-year contract with the Seahawks but he was later released on September 5 by the team. Three days later, Singleton was signed to the Patriots practice squad and was released on September 15, 2015. He then was signed to the Vikings practice squad on December 22, 2015, but was released on April 13, 2016. Singleton was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 CFL Draft and was signed with the team on May 17, 2016, making his CFL debut on June 25, 2016, against the BC Lions. Singleton had an exceptional first season in the CFL and quickly became one of the Stampeders important players on defense. Over the course of the season, he played in all 18 regular-season games, and the Stamps two playoff games. He contributed 65 defensive tackles, 9 special teams tackles, and 3 forced fumbles. On November 1, 2017, Singleton was announced as the team's nominee for the CFL's most outstanding defensive player, most outstanding Canadian and most outstanding player awards, including sweeping all votes in the defensive and Canadian player categories. His 121 tackles going into week 20 of the CFL season were already the most in Calgary Stampeders history. Singleton's 2018 season matched the previous year in tackles with 123. Although he recorded no sacks, Singleton did add 6 special teams tackles for the Stamps, as well as 2 forced fumbles and was named to his second CFL All-Star team. On January 7, 2019, Singleton signed with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.
Singleton joined the Denver Broncos in 2023.
