Nicolò Melli was born on January 26th, 1991 in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He is a Power Forward and Center in the NBA.

Melli began playing professional basketball in Italy. In August 2007, Melli would sign his first professional contract with Pallancanestro Reggiana. He would make his debut at the age of 16 in the Italian second division, LegaDue. In his first season playing he would average 3.4 points and 2.9 rebounds. After 3 seasons with Pallancanestro Reggiana, Melli would move on to play for Olimpia Milano in the EuroLeague. Melli would continue to play overseas at Brose Bamberg of the Basketball Bundesliga and Fenerbahçe of the EuroLeague. In his international professional career, Melli averaged 7.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. 

On July 25, 2019, Melli signed with the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA.
