Michael Carter Williams was born on October 10, 1991 in Hamilton, Massachusetts. He is a guard in the NBA.
Michael Carter-Williams, the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 2014, has great length at the point guard position and is known for his defensive instincts. When describing MCW’s abilities, Magic head coach Steve Clifford said the 6-foot-6, 185-pounder is one of the best perimeter defenders he has coached.
He was drafted in the first round with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, after playing college basketball for the Syracuse Orange. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2014, and he has also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Houston Rockets, and Orlando Magic.
In a game between the Sixers and Magic on Dec. 3, 2013, Carter-Williams and Victor Oladipo made NBA history by becoming the first pair of rookies to record triple-doubles in the same game. MCW posted 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, while Oladipo had 26 points, 10 boards and 10 dimes.
On February 26, 2023, Carter-Williams re-signed with the Magic on a two-year deal.
Son of Mandy and Zach Zegarowski and Earl and Rosa Williams…He and his wife, Tia, have a daughter, Charleigh…Attended Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in Hamilton, Massachusetts, before transferring to St. Andrews in Barrington, Rhode Island, where he was an honor roll student during his final two-plus years…Was 5’9” as a freshman in high school…Earned both McDonald’s and Jordan Brand All-American honors…Played on the same AAU team as NBA player Nerlens Noel...During the summer of 2019, experienced an in-house job shadowing at UFC headquarters in Las Vegas.
