Luka Samanic was born on January 9th, 2000, in Zagreb, Croatia. He is a power forward in the NBA. 

Samanic's father, Marko Samanic, played professional basketball for 19 years, including the EuroLeague with Slovenian club Krka. Samanic played several sports, such as soccer, handball, tennis, and breakdancing. He started playing basketball until he was 11. 

His basketball career started with a local club Zagreb. Samanic collected 29 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. In January 2016, he earned MVP honors after leading his team to a championship win against Virtus Roma. 

In the 2019 NBA draft, Samanic was one of high 58 international prospects to declare entry that year. The San Antonio Spurs selected him. On July 1st, 2019, Samanic was signed.
