Al-Farouq Aminu was born on September 21, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a small forward in the NBA.

Descends from a line of Nigerian kings…Name Al-Farouq means “the chief has arrived”…Son of Aboubakar and Anjirlic Aminu…Has an older and younger brother…His older brother, Alade, was a 2010 D-League All-Star with Erie and Bakersfield and signed a 10-day contract with Miami on Mar. 28, 2010…Played for Team Africa during the 2018 NBA Africa Game in South Africa…Received the 2016-17 Maurice Lucas Award, given to the member of the Portland Trail Blazers who best represents the “indomitable spirit” of Lucas through contributions on the court and in the community…Joined his teammates, D.J. Augustin and Markelle Fultz, in sponsoring a donation to assist the Eatonville Thanksgiving Event in 2020, which provided 300 (of each), 32 lb. staple food pantry boxes and 30 lb. produce boxes, to underserved families in the Eatonville community……A member of the Nigerian National Team…Played in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio…Led Norcross High School to back-to-back Georgia 5A state championships in 2006-07 and 2007-08…As a senior (2007-08), was named a McDonald’s All-American and played in the Jordan Brand Classic…Also participated in the NIKE Hoop Summit as a member of the USA Jr. National Select Team
