Jonathan Lewis was born June 4, 1997, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a midfielder and forward in Major League Soccer.

After playing in the United States with the Chicago Fire academy, Plantation FC, and Kendall SC, and in England with the RIASA Academy, Lewis signed a two-year professional contract with Bradford City in July 2015. He had also trained with a number of other English clubs. He signed on loan for Farsley Celtic in September 2015, making his debut for them the next day. After two appearances for Farsley Celtic, one in the league and one in the FA Trophy, Lewis left Bradford City in October 2015 by mutual consent, citing homesickness. Upon returning to the United States, he played college soccer with the Akron Zips, winning the 2016 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year award. He was drafted third overall in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by New York City FC. Lewis made his professional debut on March 18, 2017, appearing as a 79th-minute substitute in a 1–1 draw with Montreal Impact. In September 2018 he moved on loan to Louisville City FC. In May 2019, Lewis was traded to Colorado Rapids. Lewis made his Rapids debut against Real Salt Lake on May 11, 2019, playing 65 minutes. Lewis scored his first two goals for the club in consecutive games, first on May 25 against Columbus Crew SC and then on May 29 against Philadelphia Union.

On December 17, 2020, Lewis signed a new contract with the Colorado Rapids, keeping him at the club until 2024.
