Trey Wingenter was born April 15, 1994, in Huntsville, Alabama. He is a pitcher in the MLB.

Wingenter attended Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama. In 2012, his senior year, he went 9-0 with a 0.47 ERA. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 36th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign and played college baseball at Auburn University. In 2014, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 2015, his junior year, he pitched to a 1-6 record with a 4.28 ERA in 21 games. After his junior season, he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 17th round of the 2015 MLB draft.

Wingenter began the 2018 season with the El Paso Chihuahuas of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. The Padres promoted him to the major leagues on August 5. In 2019, Wingenter appeared in 51 games, averaging 12.7 strikeouts per nine.

On January 15, 2023, Wingenter signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers with an invitation to spring training camp. On March 29, the Tigers announced that Wingenter had made the Opening Day roster.

Wingenter signed a 1-year deal with the Detroit Tigers following the 2023 season.
