BIOGRAPHY
Ryan Griffin was born on November 17, 1989, in Santa Monica, California. He is a quarterback in the NFL. Griffin attended Chaminade College Preparatory and played college football at Tulane.
During high school, Griffin was rated No. 21 prep quarterback by ESPN.com and No. 67 by Scout.com. He helped lead prep squad to a combined 15-8 record, including a trip to the state semifinals as a junior and claimed both Mission League Offensive MVP and first-team all-league honors both years. As a junior, named all-area and second-team All-CIF after completing 225-of-380 passes (.592) for 3,358 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight picks. As a senior, threw for 2,137 yards, 21 touchdowns, and five interceptions while adding four rushing scores.
During his freshman season in 2009, Griffin played in nine games as a redshirt freshman, starting under center in each of the final six games of the year. He led the team in total offense (1323), passing attempts (222), completions (141), passing yards (1382) and touchdown passes (9) while finishing second in completion percentage (.635) and passing efficiency (123.78). In 2010 as a sophomore, Griffin started all 11 games. He paced the team in total offense (2225), pass attempts (372), completions (223), passing yards (2371), touchdown passes (14) and passing efficiency (121.60). Griffin was ranked sixth in Conference USA in passing yards per game, eighth in total offensive yards per game (202.3) and 10th in passing efficiency. He finished 64th nationally in total offense yards per game (202.27) and 79th in passing efficiency.
In 2011, Griffin started all 13 games as a junior. He led the team in total offense (2492), pass attempts (408), completions (227), passing yards (2502), touchdown passes (13) and passing efficiency (112.76). He was ranked sixth in Conference USA in passing yards per game (192.5), ninth in yards of total offense per game (191.7) and 13th in passing efficiency and finished 76th nationally in yards of total offense per game and 97th in passing efficiency.
In 2012 during his senior season, Griffin started all nine games. He had an honorable-mention All-Conference USA after leading the team in total offense (2644), pass attempts (394), completions (245), passing yards (2771), touchdown passes (20) and passing efficiency (132.43). He was ranked second in C-USA in passing yards per game (307.9) and yards of total offense per game (293.8), and fifth in passing efficiency and finished 22nd nationally in yards of total offense per game and 60th in passing efficiency.
Griffin signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent following the 2013 NFL Draft. Ryan Griffin has played for multiple teams throughout his NFL journey and is currently playing for Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the National Football League.
On March 12, 2019, Griffin signed a two-year contract extension with the Buccaneers.
