BIOGRAPHY
Jeremy Reaves was born on August 29th, 1996, in Pensacola, Florida. He is a free safety in the NFL.
In his early years, Reaves attended Pensacola Catholic High School where he was a two-star recruit according to both Scout.com and 247Sports.com. As a senior, he recorded 39 total tackles and intercepted five passes, helping the Crusaders go 12-1 en route to a berth in the quarterfinals of the state 5A playoffs and was selected honorable mention all-state while earning first-team all-area and All-Northwest Florida honors while as a junior, he was named first-team all-area after posting 77 stops, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
After he finished high school, Reaves committed to the University of South Alabama where as a freshman in 2014, he saw action in all 13 games his first year at the collegiate level and recorded 16 total tackles, forced one fumble and broke up a pass. He credited with career highs of five stops including four solo tackles against Navy in the regular-season finale, forcing a fumble on the Midshipmen’s final play of the third quarter that would lead to a Jaguar touchdown drive. In his USA debut, Reaves posted three unassisted stops in the win at Kent State. He had a pair of tackles and a pass defended at the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl against Bowling Green and also collected two solo stops at Arkansas State. As a sophomore in 2015, Reaves was chosen as a second-team all-Sun Belt Conference after finishing second on the team in total tackles with 96 and stops for loss with 8, while earning the start in all 12 appearances. He was a third-team all-league selection by Phil Steele Publications and he led the Jags with six passes broken up, tying for the team lead with a pair of interceptions and three forced fumbles as well. He ended the year tied for fifth in the league in tackles per game, ranking among the top 85 nationally in the category and also was tied for fifth in the Sun Belt in fumbles forced per contest and ended up among the top 20 in both passes defended and tackles for loss per outing.
As a junior season in 2016, Reaves was one of only two juniors named first-team all-Sun Belt Conference on the defensive side of the ball and was selected first-team all-Sun Belt in the defensive backfield by Phil Steele Publications as well. He started the first nine games at cornerback before being shifted to the ‘Rover’ safety position and was third on the team with 85 total stops, which included 5½ behind the line of scrimmage. He broke up a team-best seven passes and was second with three interceptions, both career-high totals and also forced two fumbles. In his senior season in 2017, Reaves recorded 104 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions and three forced fumbles and was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his collegiate career with 301 tackles, eight interceptions, 22 passes defended, and eight forced fumbles and his performance earned him an invitation to the 2018 Senior Bowl, where he made eight tackles and an interception.
After he graduated from college, Reaves entered the 2018 NFL Draft where he was signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on April 28th, 2018, but he was waived by the Eagles at the end of training camp on September 1st, 2018. On September 12th, 2018, Reaves was signed to the Washington Redskins practice squad and was promoted to the Redskins' active roster on December 19th, 2018. He made his NFL debut on December 22nd, 2018 against the Tennessee Titans. Reaves was waived on August 31st, 2019, but was signed to the practice squad the following day.
On September 1st, 2019, Reaves was signed to the Washington Redskins practice squad. On October 12, 2019, Reaves was promoted to the active roster.
