James Conner was born on May 5, 1995, in Erie, PA. He is a running back in the National Football League

He played college football at Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2014, he garnered AFCA first-team All-American honors and was awarded the ACC Player of the Year. Conner made his NFL debut in the season-opener at the Cleveland Browns and had four carries for 11 yards in a 21–18 victory. In Week 4, he had four carries for a season-high 26 rushing yards in a 26–9 victory at the Baltimore Ravens. On December 19, 2017, he was placed on injured reserve due to an MCL injury that required surgery. Conner finished his rookie season with 144 rushing yards on 32 carries with no touchdowns.

In the 2018 season, after being named starter he finished the 2018 season with 973 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 55 receptions, 497 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown. In the 2019 season, he rushed five times for 10 yards and caught one pass for six yards before injuring his shoulder again in the first half. The Steelers eventually lost 21–7 without Conner.[59] Overall, Conner recorded 464 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns to go along with 34 receptions for 251 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

In the 2020 season, he rushed for 721 yards and 6 touchdowns on 13 games.

On April 13, 2021, Conner signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. In March 2022, he signed a three-year extension with the Cardinals.
