Harold Landry III

BIOGRAPHY

Harold Landry was born on June 5th, 1996, in Spring Lake, North Carolina. He is an outside linebacker in the NFL. 

In his early years, Landry attended Pine Forest High School where as a senior in 2013, he earned Semper Fi All-America honors, he garnered Associated Press All-State and had first-team all-conference honors. He ranked seventh among all high school players in North Carolina by Rivals.com and was named the 2013 Mid-South Defensive Player of the Year. Landry finished the 2013 season with 96 tackles, including 78 solo tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 17 sacks.

After he finished high school, Landry committed to the University of Boston where as a freshman in 2014, he appeared in all 13 games and recorded 11 tackles, including six solo stops, and 1.5 tackles for a loss of four yards. On September 5th against Pittsburgh, Landry recorded his first career tackles and he registered first career solo tackle for a loss of three yards against Clemson. As a sophomore in 2015, Landry appeared in all 12 games, making 11 starts, including the final nine games of the season, recording 60 tackles, including 37 solo stops, to go along with 15.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He earned All-ACC honorable mention honors from the league’s coaches and was a member of the BC defense that was ranked No. 1 nationally in total defense. Landry also tied for 27th nationally with three forced fumbles while in the ACC, he tied for fourth in forced fumbles and tied for eighth with 15.5 tackles for a loss. On September 5th against Maine, Landry was part of 1.5 tackles for a loss, recorded two fumbles and his first career sack. He also earned the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors on September 18th against Florida State, after recording a career-high 11 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks. As a junior in 2017, Landry was a Walter Camp All-America Second Team, an AP All-America Second Team, a Phil Steele All-America Fourth Team and was voted to the All-ACC Second Team by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association and league’s head coaches. He was also an AP and Phil Steele All-ACC First Team, a recipient of the Division I Gold Helmet of the Year and the George “Bulger” Lowe awards, was named to the Division I All-New England Team and was a Ted Hendricks Award finalist. Landry played in all 13 games, making 12 starts, led the nation with seven forced fumbles and 16.5 sacks and notched 51 tackles on the year, including 24 solo stops. He also recorded four pass breakups, seven quarterback hurries, and an interception and was part of the defense that ranked in the top 10 in the country in eight categories, including ninth in total defense with 314.2 yards per game, second in sacks with 3.62 sacks per game, sixth in tackles for loss with 8.2 TFL per game and seventh in rushing defense with 108.5 yards per game. In his senior year in 2017, Landry played in eight games, recording 38 tackles and five sacks on the season. He was named to the All-ACC third team, was an SBNation.com honorable mention All-America selection and was second on the team with five sacks in 2017. He also was just the third player in college football since 2014 to have three-sack games and moved into sole possession of second place in BC career history in sacks and TFLs after the Virginia Tech game.

After he graduated from college, Landry entered the 2018 NFL Draft where he was selected in the second round by the Tennessee Titans and on June 14th, he signed his rookie contract with the team. He made his NFL debut in Week 2 against the Houston Texans and in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles where he recorded his first professional sack. Landry finished his rookie season with 4.5 sacks, 44 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble. In 2019, during the Week 4 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Landry sacked quarterback Matt Ryan twice in the 24-10 win.

On March 8, 2022, Landry signed a five-year, $87.5 million extension with $52.5 million guaranteed.
