BIOGRAPHY
Dawson Alan Knox was born on November 14, 1996, in Brentwood, Tenessee. He is a tight end in the NFL.
In his early years, Know attended Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tenessee, where he played as a quarterback completing 9 of 17 passes for 120 yards and a TD, and he also played as a wide receiver as a junior before growing four inches and gaining 50 pounds prior to his senior season. He was also a three-year letterman in track & field, where he helped his 4x200m relay to a state runner-up.
In 2016 as a freshman, he played in six games and made his collegiate debut as a special teamer against Auburn on October 29, 2016, before being redshirted. As a sophomore in 2017, he played in 10 games, making nine starts as a tight end, making his 2017 debut against California on September 16 and earning his first start on September 30 against Alabama where he hauled in his first two catches for 28 yards, including a 23-yard play on the opening drive. He was named to Pro Football Focus SEC Team of the Week on October 7. He was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy and received the Park Stevens Memorial Award as the spring's top walk-on. He was also ranked second among TEs in SEC play in receiving yards with 321.
In 2018, in his junior year, Knox played in all 12 games, starting in 11 making his season debut on September 1 against Texas Tech, recording one reception for six yards. He was named one of 18 Freaks in 2018 by NFL.com and was a 2019 NFL Combine Invitee. After his junior season in 2018, he decided to forego his senior year and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Knox was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and signed his rookie contract with the team on June 14, 2019.
Knox became a more prominent part of the Bills' passing attack in 2021. During Thanksgiving Day against the New Orleans Saints, he caught two touchdowns to raise his season total to 7, overtaking Buffalo's franchise record for most receiving touchdowns in a season by a tight end. On September 7, 2022, the Bills signed Knox to a four-year $53.6 million extension, making him one of the top-paid tight ends in the league.
