BIOGRAPHY
Daniel Jones was born on May 27th, 1997, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a quarterback in the National Football League.
He's the oldest son of Becca and Steve Jones. He has an older sister, also named Becca, who played field hockey at Davidson College, a younger brother, Bates, who plays basketball at Davidson, and a younger sister, Ruthie, who plays soccer at Duke.
Jones went to high school at Charlotte Latin School, in North Carolina, and put up big numbers throwing for nearly 7,000 yards and 98 touchdowns. He led his team to the state title game as a junior and was named second-team all-state that same year. He also played three varsity basketball seasons and was a co-captain of his team. Despite putting up big numbers, he was hardly recruited coming out of high school. He originally committed to play at Princeton University before ultimately signing with Duke University, after receiving an offer.
After redshirting his first year at Duke in 2015, Jones became the starting quarterback in his sophomore season in 2016 starting all 12 games, completing 270 of 430 passes for a completion rating of 62.8%, 2,836 yards, sixteen touchdowns. During his junior year in 2017, he completed 230 of 413 passes for 2,439 yards, and twelve touchdowns and was named MVP of the 2017 Quick Lane Bowl where he went 27/40 with 252 passing yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 86 rushing yards from sixteen carries for one touchdown. During his senior year, Jones was named the MVP in the 2018 Independence Bowl with he went 30/41 with 423 passing yards and five touchdowns. He later played in the 2019 Senior Bowl for the North team, and was also the MVP of that game, going 8/11 with 115 passing yards and one touchdown. Jones graduated from Duke University in December 2018 with a degree in economics and declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.
Daniel Jones was selected in the first round with the sixth overall pick, by the New York Giants, in the 2019 NFL Draft. He is seen as the eventual replacement for Eli Manning.
