BIOGRAPHY
Cole Holcomb was born on July 30th, 1996, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He is an inside linebacker in the NFL.
Prior to his college career, Holcomb was a Three-year letter winner who saw playing time at safety, linebacker, and tight end. He earned second-team all-county honors as a senior and helped his team win the district championship as a junior and advance to the second round of the 7A state playoffs.
During his freshman season in 2015, Holcomb appeared in all 14 games primarily on special teams. He also saw time at linebacker, registering 15 tackles on the year. Holcomb finished with three solo tackles in the win over Miami. In 2016 during his sophomore season, Holcomb started all 13 games at outside linebacker. He finished fifth in the ACC in tackles per game (8.8 avg.) and led the team with 115 tackles. Holcomb also had 5.0 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and one sack. He matched a team-best ten tackles in the Sun Bowl.
In 2017 during his junior season, Holcomb started the first 11 games of the season and led the team in tackles for the second year in a row with 93. He ranked sixth in the ACC with 8.5 tackles per game. Holcomb had 2.5 tackles for loss on the year, including combining on a sack. He also had a fumble recovery, four QB hurries, and three pass breakups.
During his senior season in 2018, Holcomb appeared in all 11 games, starting 10, at linebacker. He earned second-team All-ACC honors. He tallied 105 tackles, a sack, eight TFL, a pressure, four PBU, and four forced fumbles. His 105 tackles led the team for the third consecutive year, and his 9.5 tackles per game led the ACC and ranked 31st nationally. Holcomb opened the year with eight tackles, a TFL and a PBU at Cal.
The Washington Football Team drafted Holcomb in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Holcomb entered the 2022 season as the Commanders' starting middle linebacker. He missed four games with a knee injury before being placed on injured reserve on November 25, 2022. In December 2022, Holcomb underwent foot surgery ending his season. He finished the 2022 season with 60 tackles and one pass.
Holcomb signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023.
